Main item: US Marine Corps ID card, Active Duty (DD form 2MC), 1950s-1990s

Main item's material: cardstock

Main item's features: design on both sides, square corners and placeholder data already present as shown in the image on the left. Photograph is printed on photographic paper and glued on the ID card. The "1974 Edition" is available in three different font styles. As a standard, placeholder data (or the ones provided with the "customization" option) come in "font style 1" unless a different font is selected (see picture on the left for a comparison of available fonts).

Main item's description: ID card issued by the Department of Defense (DOD) to active duty military personnel belonging to the US Marine Corps for identification purposes during the early 1950s-early 1990s. For reference, this was the ID card carried by military personnel during the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Gulf War.

Remarks: the main differences among the variations of the main item can be summarized as follows ("Editions" years indicate the year the ID was officially established/changed):
  • 1950 Edition, Series 1: first version of the ID, a statement on the backside reads "ACTIVE SERVICE ONLY".
  • 1950 Edition, Series 2: the Marine Corps seal's design is changed.
  • 1959 Edition, Series 1: the above statement disappears from the backside, whose design is now uniformed with other Reserve and Retired Marine Corps IDs.
  • 1959 Edition, Series 2: the postmaster return address is changed.
  • 1959 Edition, Series 3: a serial number appears below the "Service Number" field.
  • 1959 Edition, Series 4: font style change in the area with the form name (left panel on the border design) and design changes in the area with the branch name, Marine Corps seal and postmaster return address. The indication of the manufacturing establishment disappears from the bottom of the front side.
  • 1974 Edition, Series 1: change of design and purpose of the card, which now also serves as Geneva Conventions ID card thus replacing the Geneva Conventions Identification Card (DD form 528) issued separately until then.
  • 1974 Edition, Series 2: the indication of the manufacturing establishment disappears from the bottom of the front side, dots disappear from the "U.S." in the branch name.
