Main item's material: cardstock

Main item's features: design on both sides, square corners and placeholder data already present as shown in the image on the left. Photograph is printed on photographic paper and glued on the ID card.

Main item's description: ID card issued to US Marine Corps retired personnel for benefits and memento purposes during the 1950s-1970s.

Remarks: Active Duty and Reserve ID cards feature the same design of their corresponding variations, but present a print ("stamp") describing the status of the bearer as a retiree as shown in the image on the left. As for the proper retiree ID cards issued by the Department of Defense to retired personnel (DD form 2MC(RET)), the main differences among the variations can be summarized as follows ("Editions" years indicate the year the ID was officially established/changed):
  • 1959 Edition, Series 1: first version of the ID.
  • 1959 Edition, Series 2: the postmaster return address is changed.
  • 1959 Edition, Series 3: a serial number appears below the "Service Number" field.
