Main item's material: cardstock

Main item's features: design on both sides, round or square corners and placeholder data already present as shown in the image on the left. Photograph is printed on photographic paper and glued on the ID card. The DOD Noncombatant's Certificate of Identity ("DD form 489, 1951 edition") is available in three different font styles. As a standard, placeholder data (or the ones provided with the "customization" option) come in "font style 1" unless a different font is selected (see picture on the left for a comparison of available fonts).

Main item's description: ID card issued by the Department of Defense (DOD) or its components (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) to Noncombatants and Civilians who accompany the Armed Forces pursuant to the Geneva Conventions of August 12, 1949 relative to the treatment of prisoners of war.

Remarks: In the "1951 edition" the differences consist in a slighlty different address below the text "DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE" on the front side; "Type 4" ID cards also bear a serial number positioned vertically on the right side of the field for the photograph. In the "1974 edition", the differences between "Type 1" and "Type 2" ID cards consist in a different font being used for each type, different return address and in the presence (or lack) of the form nomenclature along with a serial number embedded in the right side of the border theme on the backside.
